The aim of the service is to promote and encourage a healthy, nuisance free environment.

Our commitment to customer service

We:
  • provide advice, information and education to the Council, the public and other organisations concerning noise control.
  • investigate all complaints about domestic, commercial and industrial noise.
  • take action (both formal and informal) to ensure compliance with the legislation.
  • seek to liaise with other local authorities to ensure common procedures and enforcement.
  • seek to liaise with industry to foster co-operation to progressively reduce industrial noise and deal effectively with industrial noise issues.
  • liaise with other agencies concerning anti-social behaviour.
We will:
  • respond to complaints about noise within 5 working days.
  • on a pre-arranged basis, install noise-monitoring equipment or visit out of normal office hours as required.
  • keep you fully informed of the progress made with your complaint or enquiry.
  • provide a courteous and helpful service.
  • ensure our staff is trained to provide an effective service when we answer the telephone or meet you.
  • act with honesty, integrity, sensitivity and respect.
  • admit when we have made a mistake and do our best to put things right.
  • adhere to the principles of the Environmental Protection Enforcement Policy.
  • be open, honest, fair and consistent.
  • use plain clear language

We have a commitment to put things right as quickly as possible and will respond to complaints in accordance with the Councils Complaints Procedure.

Your comments, suggestions or criticisms on how our service is performing are welcomed. They will help us shape our future plans and actions and help us improve the service we provide.

When you receive a user questionnaire from us please take the time to complete and return it in the envelope provided. Your feedback will help us make service improvements.
