School Nursing Services for Teenagers

The Health Zone is a confidential and accessible service that offers health advice and support for young people aged 11 to 16 years old.

If you are worried about your health, or just have a question relating to growing up and being healthy you can either access your local Health Zone drop in service or contact your school nurse.

School nurses are specialists in delivering health advice for young people and have a good knowledge of local services that provide specialist advice.

We aim to provide a service that is teen focused, caring and compassionate. Every school in the South Tees area has an allocated school nurse and you may see them around school doing assemblies, health promotion or immunisations.

However school nurses are employed by the health service rather than the school, which means that they can offer a confidential service just like when you access a GP or access a hospital appointment.

School nurses also work in other community settings such as youth centres and often do home visits for young people with health conditions or additional needs.
