About Welfare Rights

The Financial Support Team within Corporate Resources has Welfare Rights Officers that can help residents of the borough with a wide variety of assistance in regard to claiming welfare benefits. The information below will tell you who we are and how we can be contacted if you are in need of advice or assistance.

We aim to:
  • provide free, independent, and confidential advice and information about all Social Security benefits and Tax Credits.
  • increase the take up of benefits for residents of Redcar & Cleveland Borough through the provision of advice, casework, campaigning, information, talks and training.

  • Telephone the Advice Line on 01642 771166 Monday to Friday 9am to 5pm.
  • Write to us at: Welfare Rights Unit, Belmont House, Rectory Lane, Guisborough, TS14 7FD.
  • Email: welfare_rights@redcar-cleveland.gov.uk. Please supply basic details of the enquiry and a telephone contact number. We are only able to respond to requests from people who live in the borough of Redcar & Cleveland.
