On Thursday 4 July there will be a Parliamentary General Election in the United Kingdom.

Are you registered to vote?

You must be registered to vote at this election. It's quick and easy and can be done online by visiting the Gov.uk website. You need to have completed this by midnight on Tuesday 18 June 2024. If you can't register online, please contact us on 01642 774774.

Ways to vote

Voting in person

You can find out where your polling station is by checking your poll card, which will be delivered to you in advance of the election, or by checking the Where Do I Vote website. The polling stations will be open from 7am to 10pm.

Please note that you will need a valid form of photo ID to vote in person. You can check the accepted forms of ID on the Electoral Commission website. If you haven't got valid photo ID, you'll need to apply for a Voter Authority Certificate (or VAC). You can apply for a free VAC on the Government's website. You'll need to do this before 5.00pm on Wednesday 26 June 2024.

Voting by post or by proxy

Anyone can apply to vote by post, you do not need a reason to do so. The easiest and fastest way to apply is via the Gov.uk website , however if you would prefer to complete a paper application, please call us on 01642 774774. Note – all postal vote applications must reach us by 5pm on Wednesday 19 June. 
Voting by proxy means that you appoint someone you know and trust, to vote on your behalf. Applications for this voting method can also be made via the Gov.uk website or by contacting us on 01642 774774. The deadline for applying for a proxy vote is 5pm on Wednesday 26 June 2024.
