The council operates its parking enforcement service under the provision of the Traffic Management Act 2004 (TMA).
The main objective of the parking service in Redcar & Cleveland is to provide, operate and enforce on and off street parking to comply with the Councils statutory obligations in relation to road safety, traffic management and crime prevention.
The Council operates Civil Parking Enforcement to control parking, waiting and loading restrictions across the Borough. Enforcement is carried out by our team of Enforcement Officers who also look after the council operated car parks and Resident Parking Schemes.
The team of Enforcement Officers serve Penalty Charge Notices (PCNs) to motorists who contravene the rules the council enforces waiting and loading restrictions to:
- Improve road safety
- Reduce congestion
- Support the local economy
- Reduce commuter parking in residential areas
- Improve access to public transport
- Improve access for people with disabilities
