75% of electrical goods end up in landfill, where lead and other toxins contained in the goods pollute the environment by contaminating soil and water.
Putting batteries and electronics in kerbside bins also caused 6 bin wagon fires in 2 years. To help residents easily dispose of their small electronics, we have installed WEEE (waste, electrical and electronic equipment) banks borough-wide where you can take anything from kettles to vape pens.
Anything larger than a kettle or toaster can be taken to Dunsdale tip or can be collected as part of our Bulky Waste Collection service.
See below for a list of items you can take to WEEE banks and the disposal sites around the borough.
