The garden was primarily a working kitchen garden, providing Kirkleatham Hall with its fruit and vegetables – yet it was still as grand in scale as the rest of Kirkleatham’s architecture.
Later, it remained a functional garden but became more ornamental in character, this functional and ornamental ethos has been maintained in the modern restoration.
In 2021 the garden was carefully restored back to its former glory and, whilst utilising much of it’s original design, now features formal gardens, a splash area, an art gallery and a glasshouse, along with a café, a retail area and a 350-seat pavilion, which is available for events such as weddings, Gala Dinners and corporate events.
