British National Road Championships - Road Race

Witness thrilling road races at the British National Road Championships in Redcar and Cleveland. Top-class athletes, family activities, and stunning routes await.

Get ready for an exciting cycling event as British Cycling brings the British National Road Championships to Redcar and Cleveland.

The road races, starting and finishing in Saltburn on Sunday 25th June, will challenge riders with steep gradients and tight hairpin bends.

Both men and women will follow an 18.8km loop. Women will complete seven laps, covering 132km, while men will take on 10 laps, totalling 189km.

The route will pass through East Cleveland villages, Skelton Castle, old mining sites in Kilton, and the coast of Saltburn before finishing at Saltburn Bank.

Join us to witness top-class athletes, including Tour de France winners and Olympic champions, battle for the national champions jersey.

Routes and Timings

This exhilarating event is free to spectate. The women's race starts at 9am, followed by the men's race at 1.30pm. The start and finish line is located near Saltburn Bank.

Public toilets in Station Square, Lower Promenade, and Cat Nab car park will be open throughout the day.

  • Refrain from crossing the road once the lead car has passed due to the high-speed race.
  • Arrive early and be prepared for potential variations in race pace. If you can't reach a start or finish location, explore other key climbs or points of interest along the route.
  • Plan your journey in advance, as some bus services may be suspended or delayed. Check with travel operators for updates.
  • Park your vehicle in a safe off-road position, avoiding roadside parking on the racecourse.
  • Follow the guidance of the Marshalls, as their advice ensures your safety.
