Public consultation Redcar & Cleveland Borough Council
19 May 2022 to 5pm on 4 July 2022
Under the Localism Act 2011 and Neighbourhood Planning (General) Regulations 2012, local councils can designate Neighbourhood Areas. As part of this, Parish Councils as a relevant body can apply to have their area, and surrounding areas, designated as a Neighbourhood Area. Designating a Neighbourhood Area is the first stage in the Neighbourhood Planning process which allows communities to set policies for the development of land within the designated Neighbourhood Area.
Redcar & Cleveland Borough Council have received an application from Nunthorpe Parish Council to establish a Neighbourhood Area. The proposed Neighbourhood Area falls across Redcar & Cleveland and Middlesbrough Council areas. It includes the Parish Council area and two surrounding areas, including the part of Nunthorpe within the Ormesby ward of Redcar & Cleveland Borough Council.
As the Neighbourhood Area is located within the two local authorities, Nunthorpe Parish Council has submitted a duplicate application to Middlesbrough Council.
