Collective Energy Switching - Big Community Switch

We are working in partnership with iChoosr, to bring to Redcar and Cleveland residents the opportunity to sign up for the Big Community Switch, a scheme which helps people switch energy suppliers, move to a renewable electricity tariff and save money on their energy bills.

iChoosr have been organising schemes with councils and other community leaders in the UK since 2012 and have worked with over 160 councils to deliver collective energy switching schemes nationwide in the UK.

It works by using the bargaining power of a large group of residents to get you a more competitive deal on your utility bills.

What is Big Community Switch?

Big Community Switch is the larger energy switching community that Redcar and Cleveland area is part of. iChoosr is the owner of Big Community Switch and a group-buying specialist in this field, who cooperates with participating local authorities to deliver the scheme.

iChoosr groups residents from across the country to increase their bargaining power and to ensure you get the most competitive offer from their pre-vetted suppliers. Their dedicated helpdesk is on hand to handle all your enquiries via their online contact form, over the phone and social media. Their contact information can be found at Collective Energy Switch | Redcar and Cleveland Borough Council.

How does it work?

  1. Registration: you can register from for free and without obligation at Collective Energy Switch | Redcar and Cleveland Borough Council – the deadline for registration is 9 December 2024.
  2. Auction: During the auction, suppliers compete to provide the best deal. The supplier who offered the cheapest tariff gets to offer you a new contract.
  3. Personal offer: you will receive a personal offer, based on your registration details, and you can see how much money you can save.
  4. You decide: the decision is then yours as to whether you want to accept your offer. There is no obligation to switch.
  5. Take control: if you accept, you will be one of the thousands who have taken control of their energy costs through a collective energy switching scheme.
