HENRY Preparation for Parenthood 

Practical and evidence-based information to support your pregnancy and help give your new baby a great start in life and meet other new parents to be. This group programme is open to all expectant parents, and infant feeding is covered in the classes. Please book by calling 01642 444011 or emailing: 0-19HVSNservice@redcar-cleveland.gov.uk

Breast-feeding self-help - Online and telephone support

If you have any problems with breastfeeding, it’s important to ask for help from your midwife, health visitor or infant feeding specialist as soon as possible. The NHS website has lots of useful information around some of the most common breastfeeding problems and tips on how to tackle them.

NCT Breastfeeding Helpline

You can get in touch by calling 0300 330 0700 (option 1) - The line is open every day from 8 am to midnight, including bank holidays.

South Tees Maternity Services 

Maternity advice line - 01609 763093 

Available for breastfeeding information and support or to arrange a visit to the Friarage Maternity Centre for breastfeeding support.

This service is open to all mothers  and is bookable via your midwife.

Face to face support

South Tees Infant Feeding Team

Contact for non-urgent help with feeding your baby. Email them at stees.infantfeedingteam@nhs.net with your name, contact details and a short message and they will be in touch as soon as possible (please note: the mailbox is only accessed during normal working hours).

Redcar and Cleveland Health Visiting Infant Feeding Team

A team of health visitors and nurses who have a special interest in infant feeding and have undertaken additional training to support babies and families with breastfeeding and infant feeding challenges. The infant feeding team includes staff who are IBCLC (International Board Certified Lactation Consultants).

Bottle Feeding

We encourage everyone to give breastfeeding a try. However, if you choose to bottle feed, parents are supported to build a strong bond with their little one through skin-to-skin contact and recognising hunger cues.

Breast Feeding Support Groups (Breast Friends groups)

Social groups for breast feeding Mums with planned fun activities that run across the borough. Come along for a chat and get to know other breast-feeding families in the area. Support is also available from our trained staff. We also welcome pregnant parents-to-be! 

Please note that all of our activity groups such as ‘Baby Buddies’ and ‘Little Explorers’ parent & toddler sessions, welcome breastfeeding mothers and their babies!
