Canvassers Wanted – would you be interested in helping?
This year we have two great opportunities to assist with ensuring our Register of Electors is up to date.
Key requirements of applicants are:
- To hand-deliver electoral mail to properties across the borough over a 2-week period at the end of July 2025.
Following this, a smaller number of staff will be further required to conduct personal canvassing (door-knocking) throughout September and October 2025.

This year we have two great opportunities to assist with ensuring our Register of Electors is up to date.
Initially, we require canvassers to hand-deliver letters to all properties in Redcar & Cleveland (July 2025).
Following this, a smaller number of canvassers will conduct door-to-door canvass (door-knocking) (September/October 2025) – this includes assisting the elector in completing their form.
We are asking for expressions of interest for each of these roles; you do not need to be able to do both elements.

Hand delivery of Canvass Communications Forms is paid at 25p per envelope. For those canvassers who go on to do door-knocking, an additional payment of £1 per completed and returned form is made.
Each round will also have a travel allowance associated with the size of the area that is to be covered.
Prospective canvassers will be asked to state a preferred area and where possible the Council will accommodate this.
Successful applicants will receive mandatory training at Redcar Civic Centre.

In future years, canvassers will be asked to hand-deliver election poll cards. Those who have previously delivered Canvass Communications will be given priority for this.
