Dunsdale Recycling Centre is to remain open during the national lockdown which was announced by the Prime Minister on Monday 4 January.
Residents are required to book an appointment when visiting the site and are being urged not to make unnecessary trips during the lockdown period.
Appointments are available from 8am to 5pm, seven days a week.
Cllr Barry Hunt, Cabinet Member for Neighbourhoods and Environment at Redcar & Cleveland Borough Council, said: “We are asking our residents to think about how they can reduce the amount of waste they create during the lockdown period, as we want to ensure people are staying home as much as possible.
“Please only visit the centre for essential use, as we want to protect you, our residents, and our members of staff from the virus.
“If you must visit the recycling centre, please book an appointment, and stick to the strict guidance that is put in place."
Permit type vehicles including vans, commercial vehicles or any vehicles with trailers are limited to the first 2 hours of the day only, and still need a permit to access the site. Details on permits can be found on the Council's website at www.redcar-cleveland.gov.uk
