REDCAR & Cleveland Borough Council has issued a warning to members of the public to be aware of the dangers of frozen lakes and ponds in the borough.
The weather over the next few days is expected to remain bitterly cold and many lakes and ponds in Redcar and Cleveland are frozen over.
“Please be aware of the danger of venturing onto the ice,” explained Councillor Barry Hunt, Cabinet Member for Neighbourhoods and Housing at the Council. “Under no circumstances should anyone go onto the ice no matter how thick or safe it may appear.
“It may be very enticing to test the ice, but any mishap could prove serious. Please stay safe this week in the very cold weather.”
