Tomorrow, Wednesday 12 January, the council's mobile vaccination team are joining forces once again with the MFC Foundation's 'Boro Bus' to deliver an extra session in Lingdale and Skelton.
Supported by the Newcastle Hospitals NHS Foundation Trust, the team will be administering first vaccines, second vaccines and boosters at Lingdale Village Hall from 9am – 12:30pm, before setting up at ASDA in Skelton from 1:30pm – 5pm.
No appointment is necessary. There will be:
- Boosters available for 18 and over only (3 months must have passed since second vaccination)
- First and second vaccinations (8 weeks between the two for over 18s)
- Vaccinations available for 16 and 17 year olds (12 weeks between 1st and 2nd)
- Vaccinations available for 12–15 year olds (12 weeks between 1st and 2nd)
- Adults may have a vaccine 28 days after their last positive COVID test. Under 18s must wait 12 weeks since having a positive COVID test.
Councillor Steve Kay, Deputy Leader of the Council and Cabinet Member for Health and Welfare, said:
“We have jabbed over 10,000 residents now and as the infection rates have become so high, we mustn't stop now. If you haven't had your first vaccine yet, it is not too late to come down. Our team are on hand to chat to anyone who needs advice beforehand. Equally, if you're yet to have your booster, come along to one of the clinics. The vaccine doesn't stop us catching Covid - but it will keep us out of hospital."
