Tomorrow (Tuesday 18 January), Grangetown's next vaccination pop-up will take place at Grangetown United and Community Hub.
Well-known family GP, Dr Lone, will head up the session, which has been organised by Redcar and Cleveland Borough Council, supported by Eston Primary Care Network. Dr Lone will be a familiar and welcoming face for anyone feeling nervous about the jab.
The Hub, on Derwentwater Road, TS6 7PY, will host the team from 9am – 2pm, and the following will be available:
- First and second doses of the vaccine (8 weeks between the two)
- Boosters for those who had second doses at least 3 months ago
For anyone who has had Covid recently, vaccines are available 28 days after your last positive COVID test if your symptoms have now gone and you are over 18. Under 18s must wait 12 weeks since having a positive COVID test.
No appointment is necessary at any council mobile vaccination unit.
The total number of people vaccinated has reached 10,235 after 201 people attended at Carlin How and 113 came along to Lingdale and Skelton last week. Many of the jabs at Lingdale were first vaccines - which the team were especially pleased to provide.
A session will also be taking place today (Monday 17 Jan) in Guisborough. Details can be found here: Residents urged to use next mobile vaccine walk-ins GUISBOROUGH AND SALTBURN (redcar-cleveland.gov.uk) and on the council's Facebook page.
Councillor Steve Kay, Deputy Leader of the Council and Cabinet Member for Health and Welfare, said:
“It would be fantastic to get more people in and around Grangetown vaccinated against this serious and potentially fatal virus. It's never too late to get a first vaccine and our team are more than happy to chat to people and allay any of their fears. It's free, it's quick, it's easy. A few minutes of your time and you can protect yourself and others from ending up in the hospital with this virus. Let's do this for our area."
