Two new Redcar attractions will open to the public this weekend.
The 18-hole adventure golf course, Frosty Penguin’s Putting Adventure, and the nautical-themed play area on Coatham seafront will open on Saturday 24 June.
These projects are part of a scheme to transform Coatham seafront into a family destination, bringing residents and visitors together where they can spend quality time.
The car park on the old Bowl site has also opened and the recreational area has just recently been seeded.
Now, members of the public can look forward to a round of golf with all the family. The prices will be £8 for adults, £6 for juniors and £25 for a group of two adults and two juniors. There will also be a drinks and snacks counter.
The golf course will be operated by the same owners as Saltburn MiniGolf which is based on the lower promenade in Saltburn.
Andrew Smith, Director of the company, said:
“It’s a really exciting time to be bringing the golf attraction to Redcar, with all the change that’s happening on Coatham’s seafront.
“Our golf course in Saltburn is very successful which has been there for eight years. Over the years we’ve seen people of all ages enjoy a round of mini-golf and you often see families with different generations, grandparents and their grandkids, spending quality time together, which is really nice to see. So, we’re really pleased to be bringing the same opportunity to Redcar residents as well as tourists who plan to spend the day in Redcar.”
Cllr Lynn Pallister, Cabinet Member for Economic Growth at the Council, said:
“These attractions have come just in time for the summer, which is fantastic for our tourism industry. It’s also great that a local business has secured the contract to run the golf course and I wish them the best of luck as they make their mark on Coatham seafront as they have done in Saltburn.
“These fantastic attractions will help make Redcar seafront a family destination once again.”
