Remembrance Day services across the borough

THE MAYOR of Redcar and Cleveland will lead Remembrance services across Redcar and Cleveland this weekend.

Mayor, Councillor Malcom Head, said: “This is an extremely important date in calendar as we remember those who sacrificed in the world wars and other conflicts through the decades. I would urge everyone to attend a service if they possibly can.”

The below services will be held on Sunday, 12 November unless otherwise stated.

BOOSBECK

One wreath to be laid on behalf of Redcar and Cleveland Borough Council by Councillor John McCue. Act of Remembrance and wreath laying ceremony at 2.30 pm at the War Memorial, Boosbeck Cemetery.

BROTTON

One wreath to be laid on behalf of Redcar and Cleveland Borough Council by Councillor Graham Cutler.  Service begins at 9.45am in St Margaret’s Church, Brotton, followed by procession to the War Memorial for Act of Remembrance and wreath-laying ceremony at approximately 10.50 am.  Road closures will be in place.

CARLIN HOW

One wreath to be laid on behalf of Redcar and Cleveland Borough Council by Councillor Graham Cutler.  Service of Remembrance and wreath-laying ceremony will take place at the War Memorial at 11.45am.

DORMANSTOWN

One wreath to be laid on behalf of Redcar and Cleveland Borough Council by Councillor Ceri Cawley.  A Remembrance Service at the War Memorial near All Saints Church at 10.45am followed by wreath-laying ceremony.

EASINGTON

One wreath to be laid on behalf of Redcar and Cleveland Borough Council by Councillor Tim Gray.  Service at All Saints Church at 9.00am, followed by Service of Remembrance and wreath-laying ceremony at the War Memorial at 9.45am.

ESTON

One wreath to be laid on behalf of the Council by Cllr Stephen Martin. The parade will form at the California Youth Centre, leaving at 10.40am to arrived at the War Memorial in Eston Square at approximately 10.50am for service and wreath laying. Road closures will be in place.

GRANGETOWN

One wreath to be laid on behalf of Redcar and Cleveland Borough Council by Councillor Lynn Pallister.  Service at St Hilda’s Church at 9.00 am.  Assemble at Argyle Road from approximately10.30am for the procession to the War Memorial for Act of Remembrance and wreath-laying ceremony at 10.50am.  Road closures will be in place.

GUISBOROUGH

One wreath to be laid on behalf of Redcar and Cleveland Borough Council by Councillor Lisa Belshaw.  Parade forms up in Westgate (starting between Westgate Road and New Road) at 10.30am, for march off at 10.45 am to the War Memorial.  After observing the silence, wreaths will be laid and a small service conducted by the Rector of Guisborough.  The parade will then reform to march back to Westgate Road Closures will be in place. (wreath-laying will also take place at Roseberry Church at 9am, Upleatham War Memorial at 9.15am and Dunsdale War Memorial at 9.30am).

LAZENBY

One wreath to be laid on behalf of Redcar and Cleveland Borough Council by Councillor Chris Massey.  Service at 11 am in St Cuthbert’s Parish Church, Wilton, followed by Service of Remembrance and wreath laying ceremony at the War Memorial in Lazenby at approximately 12pm.

LINGDALE

One wreath to be laid on behalf of Redcar and Cleveland Borough Council by Councillor Steve Kay.  Act off Remembrance and wreath-laying ceremony will take place at the War Memorial at 1.45pm.  Road closures will be in place.

LOFTUS

One wreath to be laid on behalf of Redcar and Cleveland Borough Council by Councillor Wayne Davies.  Services will take place at St Leonard’s Parish Church at 9am and St Joseph’s Parish Church at 9am. The Parade will then assemble at Loftus Town Hall at 10.45am for a Service of Remembrance and wreath-laying ceremony at the War Memorial.  Road closures will be in place.

MARSKE

One wreath to be laid on behalf of Redcar and Cleveland Borough Council by Councillor Kendra Evans.  Parade forms up at Meadow Road at 9.15am, to parade to St Mark’s Church for the 9.45am Service, followed by a wreath-laying ceremony and Act of Remembrance at the War Memorial at 11am. Road closures will be in place.

MOORSHOLM

One wreath to be laid on behalf of Redcar and Cleveland Borough Council by Councillor Steve Kay.  An Act of Remembrance and wreath laying ceremony will take place at the War Memorial outside St Mary’s Church at 9am, followed by a service inside the church.

NEW MARSKE

One wreath to be laid on behalf of Redcar and Cleveland Borough Council by Councillor Luke Myer.  Remembrance service at St. Thomas Church at 3pm, followed by wreath-laying ceremony.

NORMANBY

One wreath to be laid on behalf of Redcar and Cleveland Borough Council by Councillor Curt Pugh. The parade will form up at the Bowling Club from 10.30 am to parade at 10.50 am to the War Memorial at Smiths Dock Park for Service and wreath-laying ceremony on SATURDAY, 11 November.

Also on Saturday, 11 November, the Normanby History Group will be holding its Armistice Day Service at the War Memorial (on the corner of High Street and West Street) from 10.45am. Road closures will be in place.

NORTH SKELTON

One wreath to be laid on behalf of Redcar and Cleveland Borough Council by Councillor Andrew Oliver.  Act of Remembrance and wreath-laying ceremony to take place at the War Memorial at 1pm.

ORMESBY

One wreath to be laid on behalf of Redcar and Cleveland Borough Council by Councillor Glyn Nightingale.  Holy Communion Service at St Cuthbert’s Church at 9.45am, followed by Act of Remembrance and wreath-laying ceremony at the War Memorial in the churchyard at 10.50am.

REDCAR

The Redcar Branch of the Royal British Legion will hold its Annual Remembrance Day Parade and Service.  The parade will form up on Peirson Street (behind the Coatham Social Club) and will march off at approx. 10.45am along Lobster Road, turning onto Coatham Road for the Remembrance service and wreath-laying ceremony at the Cenotaph on Coatham Road at approximately 10.50am.

One wreath to be laid on behalf of Redcar and Cleveland Borough Council by the Mayor, Councillor Malcolm Head. After the service, the parade will reform for the march past and salute, the Deputy Lieutenant, Mayor, Redcar British Legion President and any high-ranking military officer will take the salute. Tea/coffee will be served before the Service at 10am and refreshments afterwards at the Coatham Social Club, Coatham Road, Redcar.  (Members and officers of the Council are welcome to attend). Road closures will be in place.

SALTBURN

One wreath to be laid on behalf of Redcar and Cleveland Borough Council by Councillor Craig Hannaway. Service at Emmanuel Church at 9.30am, followed by parade at 10.30am to the War Memorial for an Act of Remembrance and wreath-laying ceremony. Road closures will be in place.

SKELTON

One wreath to be laid on behalf of Redcar and Cleveland Borough Council by Councillor Justin Thompson. Service of Remembrance at All Saints Parish Church at 9.45am followed by a wreath-laying ceremony and Act of Remembrance at the war memorial at 10.50am. Road closures in place.

SKINNINGROVE

One wreath to be laid on behalf of Redcar and Cleveland Borough Council by Councillor Graham Cutler. Service of Remembrance and wreath-laying ceremony at the War Memorial at 12.15pm.

SOUTH BANK

One wreath to be laid on behalf of Redcar and Cleveland Borough Council by Councillor Neil Bendelow.  Service at St John’s Parish Church at 9.30am, followed by Service of Remembrance and wreath-laying ceremony at the War Memorial, King George’s Square at 10.45am.

TEESVILLE

One wreath to be laid on behalf of Redcar and Cleveland Borough Council by Councillor Margaret O’Donoghue.  Service and wreath-laying ceremony in Eston Cemetery (next to the war graves) on SATURDAY, 11 November at 10am.
