THIS week, Government confirmed that £20 million of investment to be spent over 10 years will be heading to the TS6 wards of Eston, South Bank, Normanby, Teesville and Grangetown from 2026 onwards.
The Plan for Neighbourhoods scheme, formerly known as Long-term plan for Towns, will help regenerate town centres, green spaces, parks, youth facilities, culture and heritage venues, and health services.
The TS6 area is one of 75 areas in the country to receive this investment from the Ministry of Housing, Communities and Local Government.
The primary aim for the scheme is to empower local communities, and the board for TS6, which is made up of industry experts, business leaders, and community representatives, has placed residents at the front and centre of its decision making.

Jason Faulkner, Chair for the TS6 Together Board said: “It’s fantastic to receive the new prospectus from the Ministry of Housing, Communities & Local Government, as it allows us to get on with the job of identifying and delivering investment of up to £20 million, in TS6, from 2026 onwards. The TS6 Together Board has already made significant progress in engaging with the local community, and so we are well positioned to hit the ground running as we plan for the future.”
“With an even larger focus on local residents as part of Plan for Neighbourhoods, we hope communities will feel more empowered and able to tackle issues that directly impact their areas, as well as deciding where investment will be best spent to maximise regeneration and growth.”

Liz Edwards, TS6 Together Board Member and CEO of Rubies – a charity that supports girls in TS6, said: “The commitment of up to £20 million over 10 years, through the Plan for Neighbourhoods, could be a catalyst for really significant social and economic growth in TS6, especially as it will be steered by local communities. Through our work with girls from TS6, we know that local young people have huge potential despite the challenges they face here and we are looking forward to seeing how the TS6 area will change for the better over the next 10 years.”
