Keeping children safe is everyone's responsibility. We can all play a vital role in helping to protect children from abuse. The South Tees Safeguarding Children Partnership oversees the work we do to protect children in Redcar and Cleveland. 

Below you can view a list of signs and indicators of concerns to help you identify if a child is a risk of exploitation and/or going missing:

The Redcar and Cleveland Multi-Agency Children's Hub (MACH)

The MACH is a partnership between Redcar & Cleveland Borough Council, Cleveland Police and Health Partners. 

The MACH Team are available: 

  • Monday to Thursday from 8:30am to 5:00pm 
  • Friday from 8:30am to 4:30pm. 

When you contact the MACH our staff will listen to your concerns.

The different agencies might share information to try and work out whether they can help, and if so, make a decision about the level of help and support that is most appropriate for the child and their family. 

Redcar & Cleveland Borough Council take protecting your data very seriously.

Any information that you choose to submit will be subject to rigorous measures and procedures to make sure it can't be seen, accessed or disclosed to anyone who shouldn't see it.

If you are a professional making a referral

If you have concerns about an adult who works with children or young people 

The Local Authority Designated Officer (LADO) is based in the MACH Team. If you have concerns about an adult who works with children you can contact the Redcar & Cleveland Local Authority Designated Officer (LADO) on 01642 130700 or email RedcarLADO@redcar-cleveland.gov.uk

Getting help and support out of office hours 

The Emergency Duty Team provides an out-of-hours response to emergency situations involving child protection and the care of a child. 

The Emergency Duty Team is available outside of *normal service hours, bank holidays and weekends. They can be contacted via telephone number: 01642 524 552
