Animal Health and Welfare
Who is responsible for Animal Health and Welfare?
Trading Standards is responsible for the health and welfare of particular types of animals, including farmed animals and those kept on allotments and small holdings.
The service does not deal with companion animals, such as cats and dogs.
Enforcement of animal health and welfare extends to the keeping of animals, movement and transport of animals, and responding to animal related diseases, such as avian influenza and African swine fever.
