Contaminated land
We take actions to inspect the borough and identify any contaminated land. Full information on our approach can be found in the Council’s Contaminated Land Inspection Strategy below:
We are currently undertaking land quality assessments across the borough. You will be notified if your property is subject to an assessment.
No land within the Borough has yet been formally identified as contaminated land.
Development and planning applications
The Environmental Protection Team is consulted on certain planning applications to consider the risks to people and the environment arising from land contamination issues and to ensure relevant work is completed.
We strongly recommend developers to use the The Yorkshire and Lincolnshire Pollution Advisory Group (YALPAG) guidance documents which we have adopted, to prevent any delays.

When the information requested has to be gathered and formatted, a reasonable charge will be applied.
For up to 2 hours of work (or part thereof), a minimum of £72 is set for fees and charges. You will be advised in advance if the work is expected to take longer than this.
