MEMBERS of the public have been invited to a special drop-in event to give their views on multi-million pound plans for Redcar.
Taking place at the Redcar Civic Centre on Wednesday 15 June from 11am to 6pm, the event will showcase three projects, which have been developed by the Redcar Town Deal Board, who have been tasked by government to help transform and regenerate the coastal town.
A total of £25 million was awarded last year, as part of the Government’s Town Deal initiative.
The Town Deal Board was established to come up with sustainable plans and representatives from across the community, including businesses and the private sector, got involved.
At the drop-in event, architects, designers and the project team will be available to answer any questions as they talk through the proposals.
Views are being invited on the Culture and Leisure Anchor Attraction, which is a proposed new family activity centre and relocated library/cultural hub. The draft plans for improvements to the High Street and Esplanade will also be on display.
Darren Winter, Chair of the Redcar Town Board, said: “All Redcar town centre businesses and local residents are encouraged to view the plans and listen to the proposals for the Culture and Leisure Anchor Attraction, which is one of the projects being designed to boost tourism and leisure, culture and skills for Redcar, as well as supporting our high street.”
Cllr Chris Gallacher, Cabinet Member for Economic Development, added: “We are inviting as many people as possible to come along and have a look through some of the ideas that have been pulled together in the aim to help rejuvenate Redcar.
“We very much value the views of our residents, so this is a great opportunity to have your say and get involved. It’s a drop-in event, so no need to book an appointment, just pop in if you’re passing by.”
