REDCAR is set to reach new heights this year when some of the world’s largest inflatable kites take to the skies above Majuba beach for the first ever Redcar Kite Festival.
Taking place on Saturday 25th and Sunday 26th May, kites of all descriptions, sizes and colours will take to the air for two days of aerial displays over Majuba beach.
Northern kite group alongside internationally renowned kite experts will provide spectacular displays which will include choreographed routines, flying frogs, sky-high snakes, leaping lizards, daredevil dragons, and scores of amazing inflatables.
There will also be a host of wider activities on offer to create a great day out by the seaside. From kite flying beginners’ sessions, kite and windmill making workshops, beach art creation with nationally renowned artist James Brunt, music, food and more.
We will also be joined by the Yorkshire fossil festival where you can take part in in an extraordinary exploration of art, science, heritage, and live entertainment.
Cabinet Member for Climate and Culture and Deputy Leader of Redcar and Cleveland Borough Council, Cllr Carrie Richardson, said:
“The Redcar Kite Festival is an event we are delighted to be hosting and promises to be a weekend full of fun and creativity for all the family.
“Residents and visitors will be able to enjoy some of the world’s largest inflatable kites take to the skies above Majuba beach as well as entertainment, music, workshops and a small food market.
“As well as being a free and fun event the weekend will also help highlight the power and sustainability of the wind and what better place for it to take place than Majuba beach.
“I would encourage as many people as possible to come along and make it a weekend to remember and enjoy.”
