Redcar and Cleveland residents are invited to mark the National Holocaust Memorial Day during a ceremony in Redcar’s Garden of Remembrance hosted by the Mayor of Redcar and Cleveland, Cllr Malcom Head.
The ceremony will take place on Friday, 26 January, at 10 am, and will involve civic officials and representatives of the British Legion remembering those who died in the Holocaust and the genocides of Cambodia, Rwanda, Bosnia and Darfur.
The Mayor of Redcar and Cleveland, Cllr Malcom Head said: “I would like to encourage our residents to join us on Holocaust Memorial Day in the Garden of Remembrance, where we will take a pause to reflect on the tragedies that took place during World War II.
“This day allows us to raise awareness of the atrocities committed, which should never be forgotten so that we can make sure they will never happen again. It is a day to remember the fallen and pay tribute to those who survived.”
The Garden of Remembrance is located on Coatham Road, opposite the Cenotaph and members of the public are welcome to attend.
