Major construction works on Redcar High Street are set to begin

Major construction works on Redcar High Street are set to begin on Tuesday 22 April. This is to revitalise the look of the High Street with new paving, new street furniture, landscaping with plants and trees, and improved lighting.

Improving the appearance of the High Street was one of the biggest priorities for residents when consulted by the Redcar Town Deal board, the funders of the project.

These works will be carried out in phases to ensure minimum disruption to the shops on the High Street, and access to all businesses will be maintained.

Phase 1, which is between the town clock and Regents Walk, will take place from Tuesday 22 April until October this year. Phase 2, which is between Regents Walk and the blue clock, will take place between October this year until November 2026. Hoardings will only be in place in areas being worked upon and will be removed as areas are completed.

Access will be available to the High Street throughout the works and all businesses will be open as usual.

The Council has worked closely with the organisers of the town centre market to ensure that during each phase of works a dedicated space is made available.

Catherine Clennett, Chair of the Redcar Town Deal board, said:

“We are looking forward to seeing a transformed High Street once works are complete, and ask for your patience while the improvement works take place.”
