THE POPULAR food and drink campaign A Taste of Redcar and Cleveland is set to return from Wednesday, 28 February, until 10 March with participating businesses offering tasty new dine in offers within set price points of £5, £10, £15, £20, £25 and £30+.
The scheme is designed to showcase the wide range of quality food and drink establishments within the borough and has been greatly received by both its participating businesses and their customers since its launch last year. Previously a wide range of unique offers were up for grabs, from the 32 businesses which signed up to take part.
In this latest edition, customers will be delighted to see their all-time favourites onboard, including Real Meals in Saltburn, Cookfella’s Wine Bar in Guisborough, and Daisy-Mae’s Vintage Tea Room in Redcar, whilst the scheme is also welcoming new businesses such as In The Dog House, Redcar Coffee Shop and The Cats Whiskers.
Lorna Jackson from Real Meals in Saltburn, who has been taking part in A Taste of Redcar and Cleveland since its launch, said: “Real Meals is a family business, we’ve been here forever. We opened in 1998 and I took over from my parents a few years ago. We started off as a grocery shop, selling a great range of fresh products and cakes and ten years ago we also opened our own café where people can sit down and enjoy gorgeous food we make from our own ingredients.
“We jumped straight in from the beginning, with A Taste of Redcar and Cleveland and it’s been really exciting. This is our third time taking part. It’s something that keeps us on our toes. We’ve been established a long time and it’s easy to always make the same thing, but this gives us the chance to do something different for customers, so they get to try something new that isn’t usually on the menu.”
Real Meals will provide two offers during this event: a choice of two fine cheeses, crusty bread and any drink on the menu for £10.00 or customers can opt for a tasting platter with the specialities of the day for £15.00.
Cabinet Member for Growth and Enterprise, Cllr Lynn Pallister said: “It is delightful to see the great success A Taste of Redcar and Cleveland had in previous editions and the impact it had on our local businesses. I’m glad to see so many businesses returning this year and looking forward to seeing how it will unfold.”
Cabinet Member for Climate and Culture, Cllr Carrie Richardson said: “This is a great opportunity for our hospitality businesses to showcase what they have to offer to our residents and visitors across Redcar and Cleveland and a chance for people to explore new venues, try different meals and discover some of our hidden gems.”
